Research

I am now an assistent professor working on a project on Social Signal Processing in the ICT group in the TU Delft.

I am studying Pattern Recognition. How is it possible that humans are so very good in recognizing things, and a computer is not? My main research interest is one-class classification (with my toolbox DD_Tools). but to be honest, I like any learning method which does not include tons of 'magic' parameters. When you have a look at my publications, you may get an impression.

Interests

To be honest, pattern recognition is just one of the interesting aspects to think about in life. A more deeper and more intruiging one is what is consciousness? A clear answer (or even a clear definition of consciousness) cannot be given now, but it is already great to discuss it.
Times are changing (although some good things fortunately never die: like vim) and I have to confess that my computer of choice will be an Apple. (For people with too much time: I even use them in my research, find it!)
